The Art of Simplicity

A couple of weeks ago, Accelerate Tv held a contest on Instagram. The contest was simple: shoot a minute short film on the theme of healing.

I was excited about the opportunity that I intended to do something so extraordinary that would leave the viewers and judges in awe.

The contest had a deadline of one week that was later extended by another week. During those two weeks I didn't shoot a video. I was so focused on doing something so extraordinary that I ended up doing nothing. I was opportune to see the short film of one of the selected candidates. He made a short film about healing from a toxic relationship. Simple, right? Maybe cringe too, but it got the work done.

Sometimes we are focused on proving our skills but trying to do something so advanced and almost impossible that we forget the importance of simplicity. There is beauty in simplicity and most times the simple things are the hardest to do.

Have you ever been in a situation like this too, where you wanted to be so impressive that you did nothing, or you messed up? If yes, please share with me your experience and how you healed from it.
